Product Details
This decorative painted armoire is typical of the Shanxi region. Shanxi is a place renown for its furniture of Ming and Qing Dynasty. The screen panel-like doors are arranged like a set of matched paintings (duifuhua). Their composition forms a continuous ancient life scene with floral patterns. The technique of successive layers of yellow and gold sienna against the red ground has produced a rich, warm decorative effect. It is fitted with two interior shelves and a bottom charming carving.
