Product Details
Real collectible item!
Without garish carvings and painting, yet it is real traditional, vernacular furniture. It is simple yet practical.
This rectangle black lacquer painting table is dated back to mid-19th century from Shanxi, a province in North China. The form of this table is particularly pleasing and somehow looks like an altar table. The most striking feature is the traces of the weathering age and wearing use. Its black lacquered surface exhibit a sturdy form for guaranteed long-term use.
Shanxi, once a prosperous province in ancient China, is renown for its Ming and Qing style antique furniture.
Its material, Northern Elm (Yumu) is quite resistant to decay and often with a wave-like patterning on the tangential surface, displaying a layered, feather-like figure.
