This is a carved plaque with inscriptions for a study.
The main inscribed text reads °Yue yun ju" (from right to left as per Chinese traditional order), which denotes the name of study where the plaque was hung. Traditionally, ancient Chinese scholars liked to name their studies. This piece is something with rich traditional Chinese culture. It is adorned by carved flowers, dragon, etc.
"Yue" means happiness
"Yun" means clouds
"Ju" means place
When put together, the meanings goes a Heavenly Place.
